Blogger’s Story
My love affair with weblogging began on December 29, 2004, with the opening of Slip of the Pen, my “personal slash literary” blog (originally in Blogger). The birth of Slip of the Pen was, in many ways, the start of my online presence and activity (prior to blogging, I was strictly an offline PC gamer). Since then, the blogs and web projects have kept on coming, and there has been no turning back for me.
On May 21, 2005, just days after my birthday, I opened my second blog — Crimson Crux. It was meant to be a technology blog, but has since expanded to cover a little bit of Philippine sports. The first incarnation of Crimson Crux was in Blogger just like Slip of the Pen, but I ported it to Wordpress in April 2006.
My perspective on blogging — both as a medium and art — vastly expanded when I completed my free elective course handled by Palanca winner Prof. Paolo Manalo, Creative Writing 198: Online Writing, in UP Diliman. The course required us to publish a “filter blog”; thus, the blog The Words That Blog Us (or simply TWoTBlog) was born. I’ve not updated TWoTBlog since April 2006, but its archives might be worth checking out. Other notable products of that CW 198 class (the first-ever blogging course in the University!) is Ia’s Qwerky and Drakulita’s short-lived-but-head-turning Pornographic Sofa.
I’m marking three years of blogging this December 2007, and I’m quite happy that I’ve “leveled up” from n00b blogger to one who owns or has regularly written for at least thirty websites. Blogging has helped me hone my writing, make new friends, and earn a living. My other blogs can be found in the Corsarify section.
