Okay, for my first update here for the new year, let me give you some updates (wala nang masulat e) regarding our other Ituloy AngSulong entries. I’ve posted some personal thoughts about the ongoing SEO contest on our main Ituloy AngSulong entry. Here’s a teaser:

With only a month to go in the Ituloy AngSulong, I’ve come to a realization that if there’s going to be a Round 3 of this series of Philippine SEO contests, I’ll probably be keeping out of it.

Yep, you heard that right. Read on to know why. Secondly, we just noticed recently that our Ituloy AngSulong Vox version made it to the second page of Yahoo’s SERPs. We’re hoping it can barge into the top page in the next week or so.

An excerpt from the Vox Ituloy AngSulong entry:

There might be hope for the place, after all. Nonetheless, it was fun using Vox. It’s very pretty and uncluttered and very user-friendly. Not to mention SEO-friendly: the Ituloy AngSulong Vox URL formats are very descriptive, which will help potential visitors seeking these posts of ours arrive here in the soonest and easiest way possible.

When one talks about SEO, the Google search engine is usually the first thing that comes to mind. The other two biggies — Yahoo! and MSN — play second fiddle for most SERP optimizers. I’m guilty of being one of them.

However, recently I’ve been trying to optimize my sites and our Ituloy AngSulong entry for MSN and Yahoo! as well. While Google is still the big daddy, these two sites shouldn’t be ignored — a considerable chunk of search engine traffic at Asthma Inhalers Central comes from MSN, while it’s Yahoo! for Crimson Crux. (And before I forget, ranking high for all three engines is imperative in the Ituloy AngSulong contest.)

Last week we stumbled upon several Yahoo!- and MSN-friendly SEO ‘tools’, the identities of which we’ll not be divulging now (tricks of the trade, I guess, hehe). However, mere days after I gave these tools a try, some great news arrived — Google, Yahoo!, and MSN have agreed to use the same sitemaps protocol!

I’ve added a page to our Ituloy AngSulong site — the Ituloy AngSulong Trio page. It profiles us three Ituloy AngSulong contestants.

Coming on the heels of our 5th place finish in the Isulong SEOPH search engine optimization contest, the Go-Ogle! Philippines trio has decided to enter another SEO tilt.

Presenting the Ituloy AngSulong contest, which now spans three search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN). The contest mechanics can be found here.

I’ll be writing some of my thoughts here from time to time, though most of my postings will be at our Ituloy AngSulong entry.

Wish us luck! The competition seems stronger this time around, though if we don’t win, the SEO experience is still worth it!
