ACM Essays

UP ACM LogoI served as the Executive Head for Logistics of the Association for Computing Machinery - UP Student Chapter (UP ACM), the first ACM chapter in the Philippines.

Our student org made the news in 2005 by winning two of the five Chapter Excellence Awards, beating the universities of the First World. (See my announcement on Slip of the Pen and the updates on Crimson Crux.) A year later, UP ACM did an encore by winning another Award (see the announcement on Crimson Crux).

This page is home to the three winning essays we submitted to ACM International, along with our press release in 2005. Majority of the ten essays we submitted over the course of two years were penned by yours truly, with Ia Lucero writing the rest. What I wrote, she edited, and what she wrote, I edited — a healthy and winning formula, hehe.

*The website of UP ACM at the time of the writing of these essays can still be found here.
